Summer 2020 Videography Intern

8. 07. 20

This has been the coolest and most bizarre summer of my life. The pandemic certainly played a huge role but having had the opportunity to be an intern. Pulse has been the reason why this has been one of my favorite summers ever.

In these short few months, I’ve learned so much. Everything from what it looks like to lead a healthy Christian lifestyle (especially in community with others), to setting healthy work/life boundaries and time management.

God really changed my life and just the way that I look at life. He reignited my desire to be in relationship with Him, through my family at Pulse. Fellow interns and other staff members have displayed so many acts of love and caring to me, even when they had no reason to. I’ve been able to watch firsthand, what the power of the Holy Spirit can do and just how transformative it can really be.

The last couple months with Pulse have been incredible. I have learned and grown in the videography position beyond what I could have ever expected. I’ve had the pleasure of shooting and capturing two Revival Nights events and my coworker CJ and I had (nearly full) creative control. I’ve had an amazing experience capturing and editing these but I’ve truly learned so much in such a short amount of time. I’ve gained skills in communication and planning, organization, gear coordination, shot planning, etc.

I found out about the Pulse internship from my friend Tim. I met him last year during the summer and we both share a passion for videography. He was posting tons of Pulse content on his Instagram and YouTube channel and I was super curious as to what he was up to. He told me about Pulse, the incredible opportunities they have for young people across the globe, and how fulfilling it was to be an intern for their videography department. Right away, I knew I had to be a part of it.

My first week as a Pulse intern has been super exciting. I can already tell that I’m going to form lasting relationships with the people that I’m interning and working with. Although the majority of it has been virtual, the aspect of community, inclusion, collaboration, and love has been beyond inspiring for me. Most of us were able to meet in person and help to rebuild our cities by volunteering our time and effort. I couldn’t think of a more worthy cause and we had a ton of fun doing it! I’ve had an awesome first week and can’t wait for the next!
