Makayla Rocheford

Social Media
Biography

Hey! My name is Makayla Rocheford and I’m the Social Media Intern! Above all else, I’m extremely passionate about my love for Jesus and sharing that with other people. I’ll graduate in May 2021 with a degree in Strategic Communication from University of St. Thomas. Some of my biggest passions are hiking, camping, traveling, writing and working on my handmade clay earring business (shameless plug… @his_potter on Instagram). I’m also an INFJ and an enneagram 4 for those of you who also geek out over that. I’m stoked to be a part of Pulse and all that they’re doing to spread the good news. I can’t wait to pour into others and be poured into this semester!

2.5.21 – Week 4

WOW! This week has been absolutely amazing. All of the interns got to meet in person for the first time this week. We had our discipleship time in the office on Tuesday. Tuesday night was our first Revival Nights film night, which was incredible. It was such a powerful experience and so much fun to be able to serve alongside the other interns. I cannot wait for the next Revival Nights! I’ve been working on getting the podcast up and running, as well as making some graphics for tweets I wrote. I’m feeling extremely thankful and blessed by the doors God is opening in my life through this experience!

Social Media Interns
2.12.21 – Week 5

This week was so great! I gave a presentation about the gospel in front of the intern cohort Tuesday morning. We talked about discipleship and miracles/healing during our chapel times. I was reminded of the importance of discipleship/mentorship, as well as the healing power of Jesus that’s often forgotten. I was part of a really fun Year of The Bible photo and Tik Tok shoot on Tuesday. I worked more on the podcast this week. Overall, this week was great!

2.19.21 – Week 6

This week was great! I continued working on the podcast and writing/scheduling tweets. I also started making analytics reports. We had to meet virtually Tuesday due to the internet being down at the office; however, it was still great. We happened to watch a sermon from one of my favorite sermon series’ of all time: Michael Todd’s Relationship Goals. It was so great! We did a pilates workout, too. We also had a really inspiring panel discussion with some Pulse employees who used their past stories and experiences to inspire us. This internship is challenging and growing me in a really good way!

2.26.21 – Week 7

This week has been great! The interns were able to meet in the office again Tuesday. Our workout for the week consisted of running outside and then running the stairs at U.S. Bank Stadium. Some of us walked to Starbucks after. We then had pizza delivered to the office for dinner before the Revival Nights live-stream aired at 7pm CT. Revival Nights is a monthly worship event that we film and post online a few weeks later because we can’t have the events in-person due to COVID-19. For this event, I was in charge of comment moderation on Pulse’s Facebook live-stream. This was a really great opportunity to practice a lot of the skills I’ve been learning in my college courses. On top of this experience, I’ve also been working on creating Tik Tok content, social media analytics reports and reviewing/writing devotional plans for Pulse’s app, Move Closer. It has been another great week at Pulse!

3.5.21 – Week 8

This week was good! I worked on making a lot of Tik Toks, writing devotionals/questions for the Move Closer app and scheduling tweets. We had an intern testimony time on Tuesday. It was extremely powerful and great to get to know each other on a deeper level. It was also crazy to see how some of us have very similar stories in different ways. This weekend, some of the girl interns had a birthday party for one of the interns, Leah. We went to a rooftop in Minneapolis to watch the sunset, take pictures and have a charcuterie picnic. I’m feeling thankful for the community Pulse has brought me!

3.12.21 – Week 9

This week was great. We had a really powerful worship time and took communion during our weekly discipleship hours. We also had evangelism training, which is essentially where we were taught how to share our faith and the Gospel with other people. This was very encouraging! We have a long break on Tuesdays between our discipleship times with the interns, so most of us usually hang out at the office in between. It was incredibly nice outside this week (like really, really nice for a Minnesotan March day) so we went on a walk around Minneapolis. We also went to a gym to work out together after work Tuesday. I’ve been working on creating Tik Tok content, writing/scheduling tweets and analyzing analytics reports for the Pulse social media accounts. I feel thankful for this opportunity!

3.19.21 – Week 10

This week was great. We did street evangelism with the intern cohort. My group went to Starbucks and paid money forward so that the people who came in after us would get free coffee bought by us. During lunch, Emily (our boss) took us to Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis. I had been wanting to go there for a long time so it was great to be able to finally go! I got authentic tacos, sushi and bubble tea. We came back and brainstormed ideas for an evangelism training program Pulse is creating. As for social media, I’ve been writing/scheduling a lot of tweets, making Tik Toks and working on Good Friday event promotion things. That event is coming up soon, which is very exciting and will be awesome to see all the hard work the Pulse team has put into it pay off!
